8/31/2023 0 Comments Prayers of the People, P+14AThanks be to God for God's wonderful works!
We honor your holy name with hallelujahs! Hear the praises of Abraham and Sarah's children! Hear the hymns of the children of Jacob and Rachel, of Jacob and Leah! Hear our prayers for our babies, O God. Hear our prayers for your children. They live among haters, O God. They live among the hated. They are learning hatred. They are exposed to it day after day on social media and at school and even in their homes. Be present, we pray, in those who guide them lovingly and teach them to be good humans ... in their teachers and coaches, in their bus drivers and caregivers, in their pastors and leaders. Raise them up to lead your people in paths of justice and righteousness, so that your children everywhere might follow your law of Love.

God said, " I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put my spirit within you and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances. 28 Then you shall live in the land that I gave to your ancestors, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God." Let us confess our uncleannesses before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, O God. Your people were once aliens in a foreign land, and because of it, you called us to be hospitable to the aliens among us. But we have forgotten the journey our ancestors took and the rules you have taught us about hospitality and welcome. Ours are the hearts that have turned to hatred, and in our hatred, we resort to violence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. Remind us how we have come to this place. Remind us of the kindnesses that have been show to us. Remind us that we are all one in Christ. And teach us how to love our neighbor as ourselves. Assurance of God's Grace For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God-- 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we may walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven, thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 8/29/2023 0 Comments Call to Worship, P+14AWelcome, refugees and asylum seekers!

Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God, 6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; (Psalm 146:5-6) Let us turn to our God, Maker of Heaven and earth, and seek God’s help: Prayer of Confession The Good News is that you, Lord, are on the side of the underdog. Your people are under attack, trapped, at risk of drowning! Yet we resist being rescued, insisting we can protect ourselves. You free us from the traps set for us, longing for us to live according to your Law of Love. Teach us to stay on the side of hope, of love, of community and caring, of inclusiveness, no matter how imperfect we may be. God, be our help, and lead us to the peace we are seeking. Assurance of God’s Grace It is God who made the heavens and the earth by God’s great power and by God’s outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for God. (Jeremiah 32:17) Hear the Good News: By the power of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, we have been forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 8/22/2023 0 Comments Call to Worship, P+13ACome, you who are under attack,
and you who are the attackers. Come, you who are in danger of being swallowed up by the anger kindled against you, and you who are angry. Come, you who have escaped the hunter's snare, and you who set them. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Maker of Heaven and Earth. Come and worship and be reconciled with God and with one another.
