God said, " I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put my spirit within you and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances. 28 Then you shall live in the land that I gave to your ancestors, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God." Let us confess our uncleannesses before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, O God. Your people were once aliens in a foreign land, and because of it, you called us to be hospitable to the aliens among us. But we have forgotten the journey our ancestors took and the rules you have taught us about hospitality and welcome. Ours are the hearts that have turned to hatred, and in our hatred, we resort to violence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. Remind us how we have come to this place. Remind us of the kindnesses that have been show to us. Remind us that we are all one in Christ. And teach us how to love our neighbor as ourselves. Assurance of God's Grace For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God-- 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we may walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven, thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
