Call to Confession
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession Forgive us, Lord! We shout our hosannas and throw down our coats at the triumphal entry, but when you do not turn out to be the sword-bearing, nationalist, avenger that we have decided we want, we turn our backs on you and yell "Crucify!" You are indeed the chief cornerstone of the Church of God, and we have rejected you, choosing instead the white horses and flashing weapons and repulsive display of greed and the never-ending lies of authoritarianism and empire over humility and compassion and peace. Have mercy on us, we pray. Transform our hearts, and lead us to the cross of self-sacrifice in the name of LOVE. Assurance of God's Grace Friends, God has promised that when we confess our sin, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin and remove it as far as the east is from the west. Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.

Out of our grief ... out of our pain ... out of our fear ... out of our exhaustion ... we cry to you. Lord, hear our prayers. We wait for you, Lord, our souls wait, and in God's Word, we hope. We hope for comfort. We hope for relief. We hope for peace. We hope for strength. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. In you, O Lord, is steadfast love. In you, we find refuge. In you, we find all-encompassing grace. We are grateful, O Lord, for we know you hear and answer. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession Forgive us, Good Shepherd, for we have sinned. We choose over and over to follow those who do not have our best interests at heart. We choose over and over to place our loyalty with those who are intent on doing harm. We choose over and over to keep our heads down and look out for only ourselves. Lead us back to the paths of righteousness, we pray. Call to us yet again, so that we can hear your voice. Remind us, we pray, what it means to be sheep of your pasture, and help us to live out the grace we've been shown. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin, removing it as far as the east is from the west and remembering it no more. (Psalm 103:12, Hebrews 8:12) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 3/14/2023 0 Comments Call to Worship, E4ACome, you who are longing for green pastures,
for still waters, for the restoration of your soul. Come and find rest with the Shepherd. Come, you who are traveling through dark valleys, who are facing grief or evil or both. Come and find comfort with the Shepherd. Come, you who wonder about the love of God, the grace of God, the goodness and mercy of God. Come and dwell in the house of the Lord. Let us worship God. 3/9/2023 0 Comments Playlist, L3A3/9/2023 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, L3ACall to Confession
And to whom did God swear that God's people would not enter God's rest but to those who were disobedient? (Hebrews 3:18) Let us confess our disobedience before God, and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Almighty God, We struggle with hardened hearts, with anger at the world that is out of control, with certainty that we are surrounded by enemies. We have walked away from you, decided you have abandoned us, made you over into an angry judgmental version of ourselves. Forgive us, we pray. We have seen your work. We have praised your name. Teach us to listen to your voice. Teach us to follow your Living Word. Make of us the people you have called us To be. Assurance of God's Grace Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you with me. (Revelation 3:20) Friends, hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. |
