Call to Confession
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession Forgive us, Lord! We shout our hosannas and throw down our coats at the triumphal entry, but when you do not turn out to be the sword-bearing, nationalist, avenger that we have decided we want, we turn our backs on you and yell "Crucify!" You are indeed the chief cornerstone of the Church of God, and we have rejected you, choosing instead the white horses and flashing weapons and repulsive display of greed and the never-ending lies of authoritarianism and empire over humility and compassion and peace. Have mercy on us, we pray. Transform our hearts, and lead us to the cross of self-sacrifice in the name of LOVE. Assurance of God's Grace Friends, God has promised that when we confess our sin, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin and remove it as far as the east is from the west. Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
