Call to Confession
Jesus said to them, “The light is in you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. If you walk in the darkness, you do not know where you are going. (John 12:35) Let us confess the places where we have walked in darkness, and seek the light of God's mercy: Prayer of Confession You have taken us by the hand, O God, and guided us toward all the truth there is, but we have resisted the Spirit of Truth and sought our own desires above our responsibilities as heirs of the kin-dom. You have not drawn attention to yourself as we do, when we are insistent upon our own way, but you subtly make sense out of the directives you have given us, which the world calls foolishness. And the world calls it foolishness because it does not know and neither does it understand that honoring the sovereignty of God and the redemption of Christ through the power of the Spirit results in deliverance according to your will. Forgive us for aligning ourselves with the world, O God. Transform our hearts and make us into the people you have called us to be. Assurance of God's Grace By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world. (1 John 4:13-14) Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
