Call to Confession
Morning by morning I will destroy all the wicked in the land, cutting off all evildoers from the city of the Lord. (Psalm 101:8) Let us turn from evil and from all our wicked ways and seek the mercy of the Lord our God: Prayer of Confession God of Creation, forgive us! We look at the vast expanse of your wonderful world, and we claim dominion over it and then we abuse that power. We hoard resources, so that others go hungry. We strip the land of valuable minerals without a single thought about the future. We pollute the air, the water, the soil, and watch your creatures die as a result. We do not sing songs of praise, but dirges of death and canticles of clout. Forgive us, we pray! Speak to us through hill and flower! Sing to us through ocean wave! Send your Spirit through wind and flame and move through us with great strength! Remind us of our responsibility to steward your gift to us with wisdom and with love that we might pass it on to the next generation for nourishment, nurture, and life-giving joy. Assurance of God's Grace God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ[c]—by grace you have been saved— (Ephesians 2:4-5) Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
