Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water. (Psalm 114:7-8) Let us stand before the Lord our God and confess our sin and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Creator God, we are ashamed: ashamed of our lack of awe when we gaze upon your works, ashamed of our lack of trust in your faithful provision, ashamed of our blatant disrespect for that which you have placed in our care, ashamed of our disingenuous praise. Forgive us, we pray. Open our eyes to the damage we are inflicting on our relationship to the earth and sky, our relationships with one another, and our relationship with you by our attitudes and our behaviors. Open our ears to listen to those whose relationship to creation can help us understand our destruction. Teach us to consider the consequences of our greedy abuse of power and to repent and reconsider our courses of action, so that wisdom and love and responsibility guides us forward before we completely destroy all that you created and proclaimed good. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. Assurance of God's Grace And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:5) Hear the Good News: In the name of the One who has overcome sin and death, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
