But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. (Malachi 3:2) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession, P23C Do not look at us, O God! For if you look, you will see our arrogance. You will see our sense of entitlement. You will see our indignation and our anger and our self-righteousness. You will see that we carry all of it openly ... flaunting it frequently ... because we have not yet learned what it means to be a people of grace. Forgive us, we pray, though we hardly deserve it. Look past our grandstanding to our fears and teach us to love others the way you love us, unconditionally. Teach us to truly love others the way we long to love ourselves ... with compassion and with kindness. Assurance of God's Grace But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5) In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also- forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this day~
