and shall confess the sin that has been committed. The person shall make full restitution for the wrong, adding one-fifth to it and giving it to the one who was wronged. (Numbers 5:7) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession This is us, God. We are Zaccheus. We pretend to be righteous, but when no one is looking (and sometimes when they are), we take what isn't ours. We are gluttons ... hoarders. We behave as if we are entitled. We are not worthy to be in your presence, yet we long to see you, to hear your voice, to be near you. Forgive us, we pray. Transform us. Teach us the compassion and empathy and grace that you have shown us in Christ. Assurance of God's Grace Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (1 Peter 2:10) People of God, in Jesus Christ, hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, mercy is ours, and we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
