for though they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless hearts were darkened. (Romans 1:21) Let us confess our senselessness before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession We claim to be your children, O God, yet we are not lovers of justice. We are perpetuators of injustice. We claim to be followers of Christ, yet we are uncomfortable with equity because it threatens our perception of power. We expect that our faith ancestry, tracing back to Jacob and Rebekah, grants us privilege, but like our ancestors before us, we have not kept your decrees or statutes. Forgive us, we pray! Hear our prayers for mercy! Open our eyes and ears to truth, and teach us to be lovers of justice and creators of equity in a world that is starving for righteousness and peace. Assurance of God's Grace God's mercy is from everlasting to everlasting. (Psalm 103:17) Hear the Good News: in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
