Call to Confession

For the wages of sin is death, the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy.

Prayer of Confession

Gracious Healer,
We are blind:
blinded by sin,
blinded by the law,
blinded by fear.
In our darkness,
we refuse to see,
we refuse to listen,
we refuse to believe.
So we put you on trial,
questioning everything
and everyone.
Forgive us, we pray.
Open our eyes
to see you at work
in and among us.
Open our ears
to hear the Good News!
Open our hearts
to receive it.
Heal our blindness, O God,
and make us whole,
so that God's works
might be revealed in us.


Assurance of God's Grace

For God so loved the world that God sent God's only Son that whosoever believeth in him would not perish, but would have eternal life, for God did not send God's son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17) In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you.
