Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Creator God, Forgive us. Every day you reveal yourself to us in the rising and the setting of the sun, in the blossoming of new life, in the flow of life-giving water, in the teeming of sea creatures and in the playful antics of land animals, and in the birdsong. Every day you speak to us through the Word, written and Incarnate, living and dynamic, read and proclaimed through the power of the Holy Spirit. Still, we ignore it. Still, we deny it. Still, we refute it. Still, we misrepresent it. Forgive us, we pray! Open our eyes to what is before us. Open our ears to what is around us. Open our hearts to what is within us. Open our minds to new understanding. Let the Spirit of Truth blow afresh through our lives and recreate us into the people you have called us to be! Assurance of God's Grace All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” (Acts 10:43) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
