Call to Confession

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence and seek God's mercy.

Prayer of Confession, L3A

Here we are, God,
coming to meet you when no one is around,
because we are afraid of the judgment
we know we deserve.
We long to have our thirst for you satisfied,
our spirits renewed,
our hope restored.

Here we are, God,
deciding with whom it is appropriate to engage
and who it isn't,
judging one another without knowing
their stories,
withholding love.
Forgive us, we pray, and
teach us to sow grace
that your people everywhere will reap a harvest
of joy.

Assurance of God's Grace

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send God's Son to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17) In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you.
