2/2/2022 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, E5CCall to Confession
Jesus asked, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do what I tell you to do?” (Luke 6:46) Jesus has our number, and we have no answer except to confess our failures and seek God’s grace. Let us then confess on sin: Prayer of Confession Depart from us, Lord, for we are sinful people. Weary from working through this long, dark night, we are ready to put up our nets and go home. You ask for our gifts as vessels for your message, and we are reluctant to share them. You encourage us to try again to provide nourishment for ourselves and the community, and we protest that we have done all the things. All. The. Things. You demonstrate your faithfulness, tip your hand in the name of grace, calling us to discipleship, but we are slow to risk everything we have been taught matters, when all that really matters is following your lead. Jesus, Master, have mercy on us, and lead us in faith to unexplored areas of potential where your abundance exceeds our wildest imagination and your goodness surpasses the limits of our perception. Assurance of God’s Grace For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— not the result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) This is the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
