Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life but must endure God’s wrath. (John 3:36) Let us confess our disobedience before God, and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, O God, for we have entered your congregation not to praise you, but to gather your word like sticks that we can use to hit one another with. We have failed to recognize that sticks die when separated from the body of the tree. We promise to pay our vows, but we fail to follow through, or we change the vows to suit our own desires, rather than live by the constructs of faithfulness you have established for your people. Hear our prayers, O God, for we who have forgotten to remember you in times of want and in times of plenty, in times of sickness and in times of health, in times of conflict and in times of unity. Deliver us, we pray, from our own arrogance. Renew a right spirit within us, that we might remember that you are our God, and we are your people. Assurance of God's Grace For our sake God made the one who knew no sin to be sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
