All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession This is us, God, standing on the edge of the cliff, prepared to push you over it. We are angry with the prophets who dare to call us to behave as children of God. We will preach Good News to the poor by telling them from our place of privilege how they can (and should) do better. We have no interest in announcing pardon to anyone except our own, because we are blind ourselves, and we are not looking to recover our sight. The only burdens we are looking to release are the burdens of dealing with people who disagree with us. Forgive us, God. Do not slip away from us. We need you. Reach out and knock the self-righteousness right out of us, we pray. Teach us humility, compassion, and grace. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when God's people confess their sin, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin, removing it as far as the east is from the west, and remembering it no more. Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
