Call to Confession
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God’s mercy. Prayer of Confession Almighty God, forgive us. We have confused human leaders with the Messiah, and we have made idols of them elevated their messages over the Gospel. Come in and make a clean sweep of our lives, O God. Take out the trash, we pray. Rid us of the falsehoods and delusions to which we cling. Put our priorities in order. Reorganize the way we connect our faith with our living, and help us to more clearly see where we have failed to live up to Jesus’ example. Burn in us as holy fire, and refine us into the called and claimed, marked by your love. Assurance of God’s Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin and remove it as far as the east is from the west and remember it no more. (Psalm 103:12 and Jeremiah 31:34) In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
