12/5/2018 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, Advent 2CCall to Confession
For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. (Malachi 4:1) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession, Advent 2C "Look!" the prophets said, quoting you, O Lord. "Look! The One you've been waiting for is on his way!" But we are not looking for a divine Savior. Instead, we try to make Saviors of ourselves and of our human leaders. We do not place our trust in you, O God, but in our own efforts and in those whom WE have called. Forgive our arrogance, we pray. Forgive our lack of faith. As we walk through trials of our own making, refine us ... cleanse us ... make us fit for the work to which we have been called according to your purpose, and open our eyes to see the joy of our salvation in the One you sent and are sending again to be our Redeemer. Assurance of God's Grace Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. (Isaiah 1:18) In the name of Jesus Christ, our sins have been redeemed. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this day.
