God's mercy is for those who fear God from generation to generation. (Luke 1:50) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we have sinned. We do not sing of your steadfast love, O God, beyond Christmas and Easter, Nor do we proclaim your faithfulness. Instead, we focus on judgment, and we appoint ourselves proxy judges, making kin-dom citizenship decisions about who is in and who is out on no authority but our own. Love has been declared weakness in our realm, O God. Humility has been declared passive. Advocacy for justice is rebellion. Yet, you came as a child in human skin to live among us as a refugee ... as a rabbi ... as a rebel ... and declared LOVE the law of your land. And then you showed us how to do it. Show us again, we pray, because we have not paid attention. Show us again, we pray, because we have not practiced our lessons. Show us again, we pray, because we have forgotten what it means to be your children ... followers of Christ ... kin-dom seekers. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. Assurance of God's Grace God so loved the world that God sent God's only Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. God did not send God's Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
