Call to Confession

O Jerusalem, wash your heart clean of wickedness
    so that you may be saved.
How long shall your evil schemes
    lodge within you?  (Jeremiah 4:14)

Let us confess the evil schemes that reside within us, and seek the cleansing of our hearts from its wickedness:

Prayer of Confession

Create in us a new heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within us.
Transform our sense of entitlement
and give us compassion
and grace.
Transform our need for power
and give us humility
and a longing for equity.
Transform our propensity for greed
and give us a passion for justice
and a burning desire to share.
Transform the fear that underlies
all our selfishness
and give us love
beyond all loving
and hope for peace
across the world.
​Restore us, O God.
Let your face shine,
that we may be saved.


Assurance of God's Grace

Indeed, just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. 22 The Father judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and does not come under judgment but has passed from death to life. (John 5:21-24) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Thanks be to God!

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another.
