3/8/2018 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, Lent 4BCall to Confession
All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. In our sinfulness, let us stand before God and confess the ways in which we have broken covenant, and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession The mountain. The sea, The wilderness. All are symbols of the wandering of your people. Between freedom and covenant, there is uncertainty and we falter. Impatience takes over, and we grumble, forgetting again what you have done for us. We allow our deepest fears to overtake us, to claim our spirits, our very lives. Forgive us, we pray. Heal our division. Set our sights on you, that we might be restored to wholeness and to life. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin, removing it as far as the east is from the west, and remembering it no more. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this day.

we come before the throne, some whose hearts are breaking, some who feel too much alone. In faithless acts, as rebels, we've denied who we should be, and we come into God's presence facing our iniquity. The days are surely coming when HOPE will be restored, and God will write it on our hearts, and remember our sin no more. Let us worship then with gladness knowing God is in our midst, our sorry selves now reconciled, the beloved of God transfixed. 3/2/2018 0 Comments Prayers of the People, Lent 3BSource of Love and original Organizer of Community,
In your mercy, come near to your people. Draw near to those whose worship is directed at gods which cannot save or serve or love us into being. Our misdirected loyalty leaves us lonely and in despair. In your mercy, come near to your people. Draw near to those abused by power wielded in your name, betrayed by the church and by your servants who have forgotten the call to love as they have been loved. The pain inflicted by those who claim to be working according to your directives is debilitating. Help us see your will more benevolently and to be healed. In your mercy, come near to your people. Draw near to those who carry the burden of running the world ... who cannot take even a moment for Sabbath for fear of the world spinning off its axis. Good people with good intentions are overwhelmed seeking to be saviors. Our co-dependent living fails to recognize and to appreciate the interdependence you have called us to in the community of faith or to recognize the image of you in which we were created which offers life abundant and a spirit of joy. In your mercy, come near to your people. Draw near to those whose brokenness is inherited and for whom honor is difficult to find in their ancestry. Place your healing hand upon the histories of your people, that hope might be restored. In your mercy, come near to your people. Draw near to those who grieve the loss of everything sacred . of life and of covenant, of possession and of reputation, of gratitude and joy. Inspire in us a desire to love one another as fully as we have been loved, and in loving, to generously share blessing after blessing received from your hand. In your mercy, Lord, hear our prayers. Amen. |
