Because the Lord your God is a merciful God, he will neither abandon you nor destroy you; he will not forget the covenant with your ancestors that he swore to them. (Deuteronomy 4:31) Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, and confess our sin before our merciful God and seek forgiveness. Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God. We sing songs of lament instead of songs of praise, our grievances more egocentric than justice-oriented. We fail to herald your victories for those who long for vindication, or sing of your steadfast love and faithfulness for the lonely, the imprisoned, the poor, the oppressed, or the infirm. We silence the joyful sounds of creation by our failure to steward with compassion and care. Have mercy on us, we pray. Inspire in us a song of gratitude that offers hope to a hurting world. Reorient our focus so that our eyes and our hearts are trained on you. Assurance of God's Grace For our sake God made the one who knew no sin to be sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 4/30/2024 0 Comments Call to Worship, E6BingCome, all who have all new song to sing.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life but must endure God’s wrath. (John 3:36) Let us confess our disobedience before God, and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, O God, for we have entered your congregation not to praise you, but to gather your word like sticks that we can use to hit one another with. We have failed to recognize that sticks die when separated from the body of the tree. We promise to pay our vows, but we fail to follow through, or we change the vows to suit our own desires, rather than live by the constructs of faithfulness you have established for your people. Hear our prayers, O God, for we who have forgotten to remember you in times of want and in times of plenty, in times of sickness and in times of health, in times of conflict and in times of unity. Deliver us, we pray, from our own arrogance. Renew a right spirit within us, that we might remember that you are our God, and we are your people. Assurance of God's Grace For our sake God made the one who knew no sin to be sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Let us confess our sin before the Great Shepherd and seek the Shepherd's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, Great Shepherd, for we have gone astray like lost sheep. We hoard resources out of fear that there will not be enough to go around, and we might be the ones who go hungry instead of trusting in your unimaginable abundance, day by day, hour by hour. We race through life without pausing to listen for your voice, so that we do not recognize it when we hear it because we fear that pausing -- even for a moment -- will result in being overtaken, and we fear losing power, fame, and the privilege our society grants those with both. We struggle in the darkness because we fear what we cannot see instead of walking in faith toward a future filled with hope. Create in us a new heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Teach us to appreciate your goodness and mercy. Remind us to rest securely in the leadership of a Shepherd who loves and cares for all the flock and calls them each by name. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God, who is faithful and just, removes our sin as far as the east is from the west and remembers it no more. Hear the Good News: in the name of Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. |
