Call to Confession
Morning by morning I will destroy all the wicked in the land, cutting off all evildoers from the city of the Lord. (Psalm 101:8) Let us turn from evil and from all our wicked ways and seek the mercy of the Lord our God: Prayer of Confession God of Creation, forgive us! We look at the vast expanse of your wonderful world, and we claim dominion over it and then we abuse that power. We hoard resources, so that others go hungry. We strip the land of valuable minerals without a single thought about the future. We pollute the air, the water, the soil, and watch your creatures die as a result. We do not sing songs of praise, but dirges of death and canticles of clout. Forgive us, we pray! Speak to us through hill and flower! Sing to us through ocean wave! Send your Spirit through wind and flame and move through us with great strength! Remind us of our responsibility to steward your gift to us with wisdom and with love that we might pass it on to the next generation for nourishment, nurture, and life-giving joy. Assurance of God's Grace God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ[c]—by grace you have been saved— (Ephesians 2:4-5) Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.

Come, you creatures of the Creator's own design, you who are made in the Creator's image. Come, you who look to the Creator for food, and you who gather it. Come, you who have been given life and breath, and you who face your mortality. Come and rejoice in the works of the Lord! Come and sing praises while you have being! Let us worship God! God of Majesty and Wonder,
we bow in awe of you. With the waters of creation, we lift up our voices in adoration and praise. You are the Lord forevermore. We worship you! Hear our prayers, O God, for those whose strength is waning, whose courage to face the day cannot be mustered as it once was, whose hope is failing. Remind us of your sovereignty. Remind us of your authority over all the earth. Remind us that from everlasting to everlasting, you are God. Open our ears, O God, to all of creation: to the songs of praise from the birds, but also from the stones; to the whispers in the leaves, but also in the rippling streams; to the joyful shouts of delighted creatures, but also those of the ocean waves and the mountain peaks. Remind us that we, too, are your creatures, and that all of creation is a self-revelation of your vastness, your wisdom, your imagination, your energy, your power, your compassion, your grace. Inspire us to join in the celebration. Hear our prayers, O God, for your church. Help us to be purposeful about living out our call to serve the lonely, the grieving, the poor, the imprisoned, the struggling. Help us to be intentional about recognizing you in every part of creation and also humbling ourselves to you, the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. Make of us one Body at work in the world, according to your purpose ... according to your Word. Hear our prayers, O God. We lift them up to you. Call to Confession
More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters, more majestic than the waves[a] of the sea, majestic on high is the Lord! (Psalm 93:4) Let us confess our sin before the God of Majesty, and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, O God. We have made humans into gods, and worshiped them to the point of absolute devotion while the One we claim to follow in life and in death has ascended to the Heavens and sits at the right hand of God Almighty. We watch in curiosity as God's own Son disappears from our sight, leaving us to the work that God-with-Us began, and we turn to do the work of those whose power is manufactured and temporary. Have mercy on us, we pray! Open our eyes to our own disloyalty and our minds to the ways in which we choose lies over Truth. Renew a right spirit within us, O God, that our clear thinking and faithfulness to you might be restored. In the name of Christ we pray, Amen. Assurance of God's Grace God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love ... (Joel 2:13) Hear the Good News: in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. Come into the courts of the king!
Come singing praises! Come shouting gratitude! Join all of creation in worship and adoration! The Lord is robed in majesty! Let us worship the Lord. Acts 1:1-11 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+1%3A1-11&version=NRSVUE

we worship you! In a world where your children rail against you and against one another, we long for harmony, unity, and celebration. Move your Spirit within and among us, we pray, and inspire in us a desire to love one another as you love us. God of victory and vindication, we call on you! As war rages in countries around the world and conflict arises on college campuses and egos trade truth for power, we beg for your intervention. Humble your people, O Lord. Open our hearts to your transforming power. Teach us how to achieve justice with mercy and hope. God of creation, we give you thanks! In the roar of the ocean, the whisper of the breeze, the majesty of mountains, the comfort of trees; in the playfulness of squirrels, the song of the birds, the hope of a sunrise, the songs without words, we see your imagination and your wisdom, your delight and your playfulness. With all that is within us, we are grateful, for you have shown us how to live and to love in diversity and joy in your self-revelation of the created world. God of steadfast love and faithfulness, we praise you! We lift up your name in wonder and in awe. In spite of our failures to live according to your law of love, you love us still ... unconditionally and with fierce passion. Teach us how to love with this same devotion and ignite in us a faithfulness to serve one another according to your will. 5/2/2024 0 Comments Playlist, E6B posted: |
