"Selah," a word from the Psalms, likely means "pause." The Psalms, the Bible's hymnal, express a range of
emotions, faith, and theology. Selah Retreats offer a space to pause, reflect on these themes, and share in
communal, embodied prayer through storytelling and worship. In Selah retreats, we work together to write
psalms and then present them with movement and rhythmic accompaniment that the whole group joins in
embodying. When our minds forget, our bodies ... our very spirits ... will remember these prayers of lament and
praise, of confidence and thanksgiving. Imagine setting aside inhibitions to find healing in shared stories of
faith and hope. Interested in gathering with others for deep sharing? Contact Pastor Julie Gvillo at A Place of

Julie participated in the 25th Seminar for Certified Zentangle(R) Teacher Training in June, 2019, trained by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. In addition to creating art as a personal spiritual practice, Julie also incorporates the Zentangle(R) method in Prayer Art Retreats in a variety of contexts, including church groups, friend gatherings, and at a local art gallery.
