Congregate, you who have called out to God in despair, and you who have lifted God's name in praise. Come, you poor and hungry, you unhoused neighbors sleeping in the dust. You are God's beloved children. Come, and worship.

(God said, ) I alone am the one who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. (Isaiah 43:25) Let us confess our transgressions before the God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Lord, have mercy on us! We go about our lives, heads hanging down, chins to our chest, eyes on the ground below us instead of looking up and out where you are at work in the world, making things happen, shaking up our lives. We call upon you in moment of despair, and you answer, but we do not proclaim it; instead, we go about our business, hoping moment after moment you will come through for us, hoping you won't leave us at the mercy of those who are watching for us to fail. Take us by the hand, Lord. Lead us step by step down the path of truth. Help us to hold our heads high and to boldly announce our partnership with you, so that all who see will know that you are fair and just. Assurance of God's Grace “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds,” 17 and he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” 18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. (Hebrews 10:16-18) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 2/13/2024 0 Comments Call to Worship, L1BCome, you who trust in God,
and you who struggle with trusting anyone, let alone a Deity you cannot see. Come, you whose enemies lay in wait, and you who set traps for those with whom you disagree. Come, you who are ready to learn, to be transformed, to receive mercy, to be forgiven. This is a place of grace. Come and worship God. who spoke creation into existence, speak peace to your people. Speak into existence imagination and light and beauty for a people longing for hope. Spirit God, who comes in fire, roar through your church with the fire of passion. Ignite in us a desire to love deeply and wholly and unconditionally as have taught us to love by your example. Righteous Redeemer, call to us now from the judgment seat, and remind us of the grace with which you embrace us. Humble our hearts that we may welcome in your holy name, those whom others shun ... whom we ourselves have excluded ... , with extravagant hospitality. Hear our fervent prayers, O God, for ourselves and for our siblings in Christ, and for children of God all over the world who long to see your face. Call to Confession
Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth, for the Lord has spoken: I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. (Isaiah 1:2) Let us confess our rebellion against the Lord and seek the Lord's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we have failed to look upon your creation with wonder. We no longer marvel at your mystery or delight in your imagination or attempt to grasp the systems you have put in place that gives each creature a life span and a process for maturation. We shun responsibility for stewardship and take on an attitude of entitlement that places humankind in a position of superiority ... and not even all humankind, but certain races and genders and patterns of conformity. Hear our prayers for grace, O God! Hear our prayers for transformation! Help us to see the perfection of beauty in every thing and every one. Help us to hear your voice in the tempest, and cleanse our hearts with the Spirit's fire! You alone are righteous, O God. Teach us to love one another with deep gratitude for mystery and appreciation for our differences. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin, removing it as far as the east is from the west and remembering it no more. Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. Congregate, you creatures
of God's magnificent creation! You have been summoned. Hear God speak! Gather in, you faithful ones, and declare the righteousness of God, who alone is judge. Let us worship God! |
