We come before you this day, lifting before you those who need your healing touch, your comforting presence, your reassuring word. Hear our prayers, we pray, and make us agents of healing in your name.
Each day, O Lord, we encounter people who live in fear's choke hold. Afraid that they have been abandoned when they most need you, they demand gods they can see and touch and serve. Their lives become twisted into carnival mirror reflections of what their reality could be as they bow to gods that cannot save them. In your mercy, Lord, reach out to them, and extend the hand that pulls them up out of their darkness and fear and into the wholeness you intend for your people.Show your church how to be a hand of support for your struggling children, a haven of hope, and a refuge of strength.
Each day, O God, our Guide and Defender, we hear from leaders who are only concerned about public approval and will compromise integrity and the good of the people for popularity. Their service mocks your law of love, and leads your people down an ever winding path that leads to futility and shame. In your great wisdom, O Lord, surround them with people they respect and can hear, that they might be redirected before they destroy the foundation you have laid for a future and a hope. Make of your church a witness to justice and to righteousness that above the fray of battle cries and revelry, the call to remember to whom we belong reverberates with the certain strength of peace and harmony.
Each day, O Spirit, your faithful humble themselves before you in prayer, interceding on behalf of your people and pleading for your mercy. Be with those who boldly stand before the throne on behalf of the world and seek healing and wholeness, mercy and grace. Strengthen their resolve that the days and weeks and months and years that lie ahead are bathed in prayer, that the hopeful do not succumb to homelessness, and the hearts of those who call on your name are fortified with courage to speak truth in love when called upon to do so.
Hear our prayers also for those we name below and for those whose names are in our hearts and on our minds, and for those whose names we do not know and may never know. Surround them with your steadfast love, we pray. Touch them with your infinite mercy, and fill them with a peace that passes all understanding. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
Julie participated in the 25th Seminar for Certified Zentangle(R) Teacher Training in June, 2019, trained by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas.
