Prayers of the People
We come before you this day, lifting before you those who need your healing touch, your comforting presence, your reassuring word. Hear our prayers, we pray, and make us agents of healing in your name.
Hear our prayers for those who journey through the mire of uncertainty, terrified to leave the terror they have known because at least it was familiar because the unknown is equally terrifying. Protect them, we pray. Send your church to be a pillar of light in the midst of darkness, serving as a buffer between those seeking safety and those who pursue them to drag them back into oppression and fear.
Hear our prayers for those suffering and in anguish, whose sadness and despair are beyond comprehension. We lift them up to you, O God, and seek your tender mercy. Inspire in us a compassion for all, and send us out to console and to minister with our faith ever before us to give us strength. Grant that we may be selfless in our giving to those who have lost much that they may be blessed as we have been blessed by your loving care.
Hear our prayers for the enemy. May those who seek to destroy be flooded with kindness and covered in grace that they may come to know the everlasting mercy you offer your children in every time and place. Guide leaders of families, communities, and nations to peaceful resolution in a spirit of peace that the world might live in harmony according to your will.
Hear our prayers also for those we name below and for those whose names are in our hearts and on our minds, and for those whose names we do not know and may never know. Surround them with your steadfast love, we pray. Touch them with your infinite mercy, and fill them with a peace that passes all understanding. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
Julie participated in the 25th Seminar for Certified Zentangle(R) Teacher Training in June, 2019, trained by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. In addition to creating art as a personal spiritual practice, Julie also incorporates the Zentangle(R) method in Prayer Art Retreats in a variety of contexts, including church groups, friend gatherings, and at a local art gallery.
