Call to Confession
do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10) Do no be afraid. Let us confess our sin before God, and trust in God's help: Prayer of Confession The angels shout "Bravo" in awe of the glory of your visible power, O God, yet humankind fails to notice or to give even a passing glance to the crashing waters or the thundering skies, to the quaking mountain ranges or the dancing oak trees. All of creation sings praises to you, God, yet humankind -- made in the image of the Creator with the ability to think and to reason -- shouts against you and denies your existence until we face our mortality, and then ... we hedge our bets and call on your mercy. Forgive us, we pray. Speak to us of your power and strength through the majesty of all your hand has formed, that we may once again recognize your brilliance, your compassion, and your wisdom through all you have created. Assurance of God's Grace So (Jesus) came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father. (Ephesians 2:17-18) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
