(God's) anger is but for a moment; (God's) favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning. (Psalm 30:5) Let us confess our sin before God and call upon God's favor: Prayer of Confession We said we would give thanks to you, O God, but too often we do not-- except on the day when gratitude is expected. We speak thanks with our lips but fail to live it with our lives. We hoard what we have and forget those in need. We claim to trust in you, yet our fear betrays us. Trusting you would mean living by love-- showing mercy, defending the vulnerable-- but instead we look away. We said we would make your deeds known, yet we silence your ongoing work in the world. Forgive us, Lord. Turn us again toward gratitude and grace, that our words and actions may tell your story every day, in every way. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Assurance of God's Grace From the fullness (of Christ) we have all received grace upon grace. (John 1:16) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
