Call to Confession
We have been commanded: You shall love the Lord your God, therefore, and keep God's charge, God's decrees, God's ordinances, and God's commandments always. Yet, we do not. Still, our God is faithful. Surrounded by the mercy of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of Sarah, Rebekah, and Rachel, let us confess our sin together.
Prayer of Confession
Be merciful, O God,
for we are afraid.
Our fear is evident of our lack of faith,
our failure to trust
that you are in the darkness
as well as the light,
that you are in the pillar of cloud
that goes before us and behind us,
that you can command creation
and it will obey,
or that you can work through human agents
to save your people.
we fail to act according to your will,
to follow where you lead,
and we drown in our fear,
pulling others in with us.
Lift us up from the mire, we pray,
and set us on solid ground
in the midst of the community you have claimed
Grant your forgiveness,
and lead us ever forward into a new understanding
of your saving grace.
Assurance of Grace
It was God who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to cross over. God's grace is from everlasting to everlasting. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
Since God has forgiving us in Christ, let us also forgive one another.
the peace of Christ be with you.
Please pass the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this day ...
