Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” (John 3:3) Let us confess our blindness and seek God's healing: Prayer of Confession God, forgive us. We are an adulterous people! We desire friendship with the world which puts us at odds with you, though we claim worldly power in your name. Swollen and reckless with conceit, we focus on ourselves first: what we believe, what we want, what serves us. We claim to be Christ-followers, yet Christ was anything but self-centered. On the contrary, Jesus sacrificed himself to the point of death on a cross. We have not followed the commandment to love you and to love our neighbor. Transform our hearts, O God. Loose us from our "me first" mentality. Help us to reprioritize service to those in need as we earnestly seek to live in community with those who are different from us. Teach us what it truly means to follow Christ in word and in deed. Assurance of God's Grace If the Spirit of (God) who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, (God) who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through (God's) Spirit that dwells in you. (Romans 8:11) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
