Since we have (God’s) promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1) Let us confess our uncleanness and seek God’s cleansing redemption: Prayer of Confession Oh, God, forgive us. We have been living as though wealth could liberate us, as though money was the answer to our problems, as though promises of a better economy were enough. They are not, and we know it, for wealth is fleeting and money is perishable and the promises of humans are as faulty as the humans who make them. Forgive us, we pray, for we have chosen loyalty to human leaders over obedience to you; we have chosen darkness over light, decay over life; we have chosen war over love. In your mercy, God, hear our prayers, and call us back to reverence for the One chosen before the beginning of the world, and help us to place our trust in him. Assurance of God’s Grace (God) has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13-14) People of God, hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
