All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we have sinned: We live in fear. We fear the other -- the one who doesn't look like us or worship like us or speak lie us or love like us. We fear the stranger, the unhoused, the imprisoned, the hungry. We fear what they can teach us about the world, about life, about relationships, but mostly, about ourselves. We fear because we do not love. Perfect love casts out fear. But we have chosen not to love perfectly. Or at all. Loving those we fear is scarier still. Have mercy on us, we pray. Teach us the reward that comes from learning from one another vs. dehumanizing one another. Teach us to love as you love, so that we may proclaim your deeds through our own, bringing glory to your name. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin and remove it as far as the east is from the west, remembering it no more. (Psalm 103:12, Hebrews 8:12) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week.
