Call to Confession

Jesus said, " Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous but sinners.”" (Matthew 9:13) Let us confess our sins before God and seek God's mercy:

Prayer of Confession

Forgive us, O God,
for we have not trusted in you
for protection ...
for guidance ...
for salvation.
Too often -- maybe even all the time --
we trust in ourselves alone.
We make decisions without discernment.
We walk around with armor 
as if vulnerability is a risk we cannot afford.
We act as if our salvation is dependent
upon our own strength. 
Have mercy on us, we pray.
Teach us what it looks like to rest secure
in your steadfast love and mercy.
Humble our hearts, God,
and give us courage and hope.


Assurance of God's Grace

God said, "I alone am the one
    who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,
    and I will not remember your sins." (Isaiah 43:25)
Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God!

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another.
The peace of Christ be with you.
