Prayers of the People
God of Mercy and Compassion,
We come before you this day, lifting before you those who need your healing touch, your comforting presence, your reassuring word. Hear our prayers, we pray, and make us agents of healing in your name.
Hear our prayers, O God, for those who lead the march and dare to speak out against injustice. Continue to gird them with strength, Lord, to protect them and to grant them courage, that oppressors and tyrants will listen and will change their ways because of the persistence of your people.
Hear our prayers for the enslaved who work for less than a living wage, who live in substandard conditions, who are stuck in poverty and see no hope for the future. Empower your people by the power of your Holy Spirit, Lord, and send them forth in faith that you will deliver them as you have delivered your people in the past.
Hear our prayers for the enemy, O God. Grant that your peace may reign in a world of chaos and greed.
Hear our prayers also for those we name below and for those whose names are in our hearts and on our minds, and for those whose names we do not know and may never know. Surround them with your steadfast love, we pray. Touch them with your infinite mercy, and fill them with a peace that passes all understanding. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
Call to Confession
All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Let us confess our sin before God and feel God's merciful presence with us.
Prayer of Confession
keep your covenant to us,
even when we fail
to obey your instructions ...
even when we are slow
to respond to your call ...
even when we hasten
to make excuses.
Keep your covenant of faithfulness
even when we are faithless ...
even when we despair ...
even when we delay
Forgive us, we pray,
and lead us out of our enslavement
Declaration of Forgiveness
For if the blood of goats and bulls, with the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer, sanctifies those who have been defiled so that their flesh is purified, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to worship the living God! (Hebrews 9:13-14) In the name of Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God!
Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you.
Please pass the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this day~
