Who is a God like (God), pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of (God's) possession? (God) does not retain (God's) anger forever because (God) delights in showing steadfast love. (Micah 7:18) Let us confess our iniquity before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Have mercy on us, O God! We long for you to speak peace to us, but we do not speak peace to one another. We long for you to put away your anger against us, yet we continue to malign your name by contradicting your law of love with our words and our actions. We not only fail to welcome strangers, we spread falsehoods about them and attack them and send them away without due process. We not only fail to feed the hungry, we burn tons of food rather than distribute it to people who are starving. We not only fail to heal the sick, we destroy agencies that bring healing opportunities to those who are suffering around the world. Forgive the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have pardoned this people, from Egypt even until now. (Numbers 14:19) Transform our hearts of stone to hearts that are broken by the things that break your heart. Teach us compassion, O God. Do not remember against us the iniquities of our ancestors, we pray; let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake. (Psalm 79:8-9) Assurance of God's Grace For our sake God made the one who knew no sin to be sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 7/22/2025 0 Comments Call to Worship, P+7CGather in, you who have had your fortunes restored.

Come and tell the stories of God's salvation! In the gathering of God's people, we celebrate God's activity and worship the Lord our God with gratitude and praise! and help us to see the places where we fall short of the measure you have laid down for us. Quiet our anxieties, Lord, and help us to hear one another rather than jump to our own fear-based conclusions, and season our conversations with mercy and with grace. Strengthen us to stand firm in the face of opposition when we are responding to your will, that we may not fail you or those whose voices need to be heard because the voices of the oppressor are louder. Open our ears, Lord, and help us to hear your words of warning and your call to repentance. Teach us what it means to live according to your rule of love, that your children everywhere may know the companionship of Christ embodied by your people, empowered by the Spirit, emboldened in our words and in our deeds. 7/9/2025 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, P+5CCall to Confession
God has set a plumb line in the midst of God's people, promising to lay waste to the sanctuaries where God's people gather but refuse to listen. Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy. Prayer of Confession, P5C Forgive us, O God. We are the ones who hear your word and refuse to obey it. We are the ones who claim to follow and refuse to budge from our places of privilege and power. We are the ones who sense a call to leave behind the comfortable and risk our very selves to prophecy to your people. You have set the plumb line, but we build around our own prejudices, creating faulty foundations that fall to ruin. Hear our prayers for mercy. Help us show the grace we have been shown in the name of Love. Assurance of God's Grace Who is a God like you, asks Micah, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of your possession? God does not retain God's anger forever, because God delights in showing clemency. (7:18) In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. |
