With (your) voice, cry to the Lord; with (your) voice, make supplication to the Lord. (Psalm 142:1, paraphrased) Let us cry to the Lord for forgiveness and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession O God, in the words of modern psalmist, Jelly Roll, "we only talk to you when we need a Savior; we only pray when we don't have a prayer." We do not cry out to you until we're in trouble, and then we expect you to rescue us from the natural, logical consequences of our bad behavior. And so we call upon you again, begging for your forgiveness, Lord. We do not call to mind your mighty deeds, nor remember on your wonders, nor meditate on your works. We fail to recall the ways in which you have shepherded your people and provided for us until we are in so deep that we cannot dig ourselves out. Hear our prayers for mercy! We do not deserve your grace and yet we cannot live without it. Show us the path, we pray, through the waters that threaten to drown us. Lead your flock to safety, and remind us to whom we belong. Assurance of God's Grace ... the Lord ... has heard (our) voices and (our) supplications. Because (God) inclined (God's) ear to (us), therefore (we) will call on (God) as long as (we) live. (Psalm 116:1-2, paraphrased) Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 6/24/2025 0 Comments Call to Worship, P+3CGather in, you who cry aloud to God;
in the day of trouble, when our souls refuse to be comforted, it is not good to be alone. Gather in, and remember the deeds of the Lord! Our God has redeemed us before. We gather in hope for God's continued mercy. Let us worship God! 2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Kings%202%3A1-2%2C%206-14&version=NRSVUE

you whose spirits thirst for Living Water. Come closer, you whose souls are disquieted within. Deep calls to deep, and the steadfast love of God is both a refuge and a rolling thunder. Come and worship the God of hope. 6/17/2025 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, P+2CCall to Confession
Stretch out your hands to God; May our souls thirst for God like a parched land. Selah God will answer us quickly, O children of the Lord; our spirits fail. God does not hide God's face from God's children, or we shall be like those who go down to the Pit. (Psalm 143:6-7 with a pov shift) Let us stretch out our hands to God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we do not thirst for you. Our souls are parched, but we look for refreshment in material things. We assuage our longing with angry outbursts. We behold your face in the faces of our neighbors, but we do not recognize it. Instead, we chant for deportation and for imprisonment and for war. How do we lead the procession into your house with glad shouts of thanksgiving and praise, kneeling before you on Sunday and calling on the name of the One who lived as an unhoused refugee and then live as subjects of an earthly kingdom Monday through Saturday? Have mercy on us, we pray! Sing to us your song of steadfast love that we may rise above those who taunt us, asking, "Where is your God?" Send your Spirit to open our eyes to the disquiet within us, and help us to see what we have refused to see: that we are the deceitful and unjust. Send out your light and your truth, O God, and let them lead us. Assurance of God's Grace So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth, 3 for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4) Hear the Good News: in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 1 Kings 19:1-4, 8-15a www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=I%20King%2019%3A1-4%2C%208-15a&version=NRSVUE

O that the Lord would remember us when showing favor to God's people, that the Lord would help us when delivering them. (Psalm 106:4 paraphrased) Let us call upon the Lord for help and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we have come to believe that we are not even a little lower than you, but that we are equal -- or even greater -- than you. We have taken the dominion you entrusted to us and misused and abused it. We have crowned ourselves and our leaders with undeserved honor. We have tarnished the glory of intelligence and compassion. Forgive us, we pray. We do know what we are doing, and we do it anyway. In your mercy, O God, remind us of our mortality, humble our hearts in the vastness of the universe. Remind us that power comes with responsibility to love and serve according to Christ's example. Rescue us from the natural, logical consequences of our grievous behavior and teach us to love as you love us. Assurance of God's Grace God so loved the world that God sent God's only Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God did not send God's Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. Lift up your voices,
you creatures of the Almighty! Sing of the majesty of God! By the power of the Word, all that is was given life as the Spirit hovered over and breathed life into it all. Let us worship the Triune God, who was and is and is to come! |
