6/7/2024 0 Comments Prayers of the People, P+3BYou have been
and continue to be present with us at all times and in all things, O God, and we are grateful. Be present, we pray, with all who call on your name, and also those who use a different name than "Lord," as well as those who do not have a name for you as Redeemer, Lord, Savior, Friend. Infuse their souls with strength who cry out from illness and poverty and hopelessness and fear. You are sovereign, Almighty God, and your reign is without end. Speak to the leaders of nations, Lord. Speak of justice and peacemaking. Speak of compassion and hope. Speak of unity and interdependence. Speak of courage and of kindness. You are just, Eternal One, and your justice shows no favor for the wealthy or the powerful, but for the oppressed and the voiceless, for the poor and the distressed. Hold out your hand, O Lord, to those who are in trouble. Protect those who are in danger. Protect those whose lives hang in the balance as a result of greed. Stand as a shield, we beg you, between those who would destroy liberty and those who do not understand the risk. For your steadfast love and faithfulness, we bow in gratitude, Loving God. Do not give up on your children.

We call to the Lord, saying, "Hear the voice of (our) supplication, as (we) cry to you for help, as (we) lift up (our) hands toward your most holy sanctuary. (Psalm 28:2) Let us lift up our hands in supplication and cry to our God for mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God. We have forgotten how to express gratitude. We may have even forgotten how to feel gratitude. We are too busy congratulating ourselves for being "self-made." We are too proud to admit we were on the receiving end of Spirit's support, guidance, movement. We call on your name in times of trouble, yet when you answer, we take credit. Have mercy on us, we pray. Humble our hearts. Finish what you started in us, God -- don't quit on us now. Assurance of God's Grace For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. (Romans 5:10) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 6/4/2024 0 Comments Call to Worship, P+3BCome, you thankful people, come.
Come, and bow down before the Lord your God, whose steadfast love and faithfulness knows no bounds. Come, you leaders of nations, and you who feel invisible -- unseen, unheard, and unnoticed -- and worship the God who is present with you all. Come, you who walk in the midst of trouble, you who trust in God's deliverance, and bring your faith ... sing your praise. Great is the glory of the Lord! 1 Samuel 8:4-11, 16-20 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+8%3A4-11%2C+16-20&version=NRSVUE
