1/24/2025 0 Comments Prayers of the People, E+2CRedeeming God,
we call to you from the daytime and from the nighttime, we listen for your voice throughout the earth. Hear our prayers, O God! Hear the prayers of the weary who have fought the good fight and run the race and proclaimed the Good News in word and in deed and are weary for all the evil that still exists and the passivity that allows it and the anger that supports it and the judgment where it festers and grows. Revive the souls of the weary, we pray, that they may continue in the work you have called them to do. Be present with your servants, O Rock of Gibraltar. Hear our prayers for those who diligently seek to keep your commandments to love you with all their mind and all their heart and all their soul and all their strength and to love their neighbors as themselves ... and are preyed upon and persecuted and pummeled by a world that values war more than peacemaking. Lord of Love, bless those who desire you more than any earthly treasure. May their selflessness defeat selfishness, their courage overcome fear, their patience outlast greed and power, their compassion restore unity. May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, our Rock, and our Redeemer. 1/23/2025 0 Comments Playlist, E+3C1/22/2025 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, E+3CCall to Confession
But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness.” (2 Timothy 2:19) Let us confess our wickedness before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we have sinned. We claim to be law and order people. We claim to follow you. But we do not follow your law, and we do not respect the laws created for the purpose of order and community in our society. We claim to trust in your commandments -- even celebrating when they are hung in public school classrooms in defiance of the law that separates church and state -- but we have made idols of humans and have worshiped at the feet of those whose power and greed reflects our own ego-centric desires. We do not self-reflect so as to identify the planks in our eyes, as we are ever so busy digging out sawdust from the eyes of our neighbors. We do not deserve your mercy. Indeed we have made this bed, O God, and should have to lie in it, but if there is even one who is innocent ... even one whose goodness rises above the putrid stink of our collective sin, we beg your mercy on their behalf, that they should not be punished for the darkness that has been released into the world. Again. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. Assurance of God's Grace but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 1/21/2025 0 Comments Call to Worship, E+3CGlory! declares the heavens.
and the day and the night share the news without words, without sound, yet it cannot be unheard. The sun makes its arc, runs its course, rises and sets in one joyful circuit. God is faithful. let the wicked forsake their way and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:7-9) Let us forsake our wickedness and return to the Lord, seeking the Lord's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God. Our love does not reflect your love: steadfast and faithful, offering refuge to all. Our love has limits and conditions, making it something less than love, something cheaper, something more self-centered. We feast on the abundance of your house: on grace and hope and life. But we do not share the wealth we have inherited as children of God, co-heirs with Christ. Instead, we build walls, and make rules, and put barbed wire in rivers, just to be clear, that only those we declare chosen may partake. Forgive us, we pray. We would not tolerate this behavior from our enemy, yet we celebrate it in ourselves. How have we become the antithesis of the one we claim to follow? Hear our prayers for mercy, O God! Transform our hearts and renew a right spirit within us that your steadfast love may be seen in us, in all we say and do every waking minute of every single day. Assurance of God's Grace For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:16-17) Hear the Good News: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. 1/14/2025 0 Comments Call to Worship, E+2CThe steadfast love of God
creates a refuge that is deep and wide. The faithfulness of God is beyond our capacity to imagine. The righteousness of God stands firm so that justice reigns. Let us worship God! Isaiah 62:1-5 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah%2062%3A1-5&version=NRSVUE
