Creator God,
who spoke creation into existence, speak peace to your people. Speak into existence imagination and light and beauty for a people longing for hope. Spirit God, who comes in fire, roar through your church with the fire of passion. Ignite in us a desire to love deeply and wholly and unconditionally as have taught us to love by your example. Righteous Redeemer, call to us now from the judgment seat, and remind us of the grace with which you embrace us. Humble our hearts that we may welcome in your holy name, those whom others shun ... whom we ourselves have excluded ... , with extravagant hospitality. Hear our fervent prayers, O God, for ourselves and for our siblings in Christ, and for children of God all over the world who long to see your face. Call to Confession
Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth, for the Lord has spoken: I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. (Isaiah 1:2) Let us confess our rebellion against the Lord and seek the Lord's mercy: Prayer of Confession Forgive us, God, for we have failed to look upon your creation with wonder. We no longer marvel at your mystery or delight in your imagination or attempt to grasp the systems you have put in place that gives each creature a life span and a process for maturation. We shun responsibility for stewardship and take on an attitude of entitlement that places humankind in a position of superiority ... and not even all humankind, but certain races and genders and patterns of conformity. Hear our prayers for grace, O God! Hear our prayers for transformation! Help us to see the perfection of beauty in every thing and every one. Help us to hear your voice in the tempest, and cleanse our hearts with the Spirit's fire! You alone are righteous, O God. Teach us to love one another with deep gratitude for mystery and appreciation for our differences. Assurance of God's Grace God has promised that when we confess our sin, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sin, removing it as far as the east is from the west and remembering it no more. Hear the Good News: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. Congregate, you creatures
of God's magnificent creation! You have been summoned. Hear God speak! Gather in, you faithful ones, and declare the righteousness of God, who alone is judge. Let us worship God! 2 Kings 2:1-12 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Kings+2%3A1-12&version=NRSVUE

you are awesome! Your greatness is beyond our finite imagination. We lift our songs of praise with deep gratitude. Hear our prayers for mercy as well, we pray. For the outcast who is shunned because of their race or gender or sexual orientation, because of their different abilities or their neuro-diversity or their mental illness, because of their financial situation, or their political perspective, or their cognitive delusions. Move your church to be truly inclusive and hospitable, welcoming all with open arms and listening to their stories with kindness and with grace. Hear our prayers for compassion for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one or a treasured pet or a special relationship, the loss of a job or a home or a dream that was very real. Inspire your people to reach out with kindness, to offer a smile and possibly a hug, a hand to hold, and a shoulder to lean on. Be present with all who are hurting, O God, and grant your healing power to strengthen and support. Surround them with your love, we pray, and fill them with a peace that passes all understanding. 2/1/2024 0 Comments Playlist, E5B2/1/2024 0 Comments Prayer of Confession, E5BCall to Confession
Come, let us return to the Lord, for it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up. (Hosea 6:1) Let us confess our sin before God and seek God's mercy: Prayer of Confession You are worthy, O God, of glory and honor and praise, but our songs are mournful rather than thankful, dirges, rather than dances. Forgive our failure to trust in your abundant mercy, in your extravagant grace, in your steadfast love and faithfulness, in your unending compassion. Open our hearts to your immeasurable goodness, and teach us new songs that bring glory to your name. Assurance of God's Grace The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18) Hear the Good News: in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us also forgive one another. The peace of Christ be with you. Please extend the peace of Christ to all whom you encounter this week. |
